REASONABLE MODIFICATION

THE BUS will make reasonable modifications to policies, practices and procedures to avoid discrimination and ensure that our programs are accessible to individuals with disabilities if it does not cause a fundamental alteration of service, there isn’t a direct threat to the health or safety of others, it must be needed to use the service and it doesn’t cause an undue financial/administrative burden.

Notice is required, but when possible we will be flexible in handling requests on the spot.

Examples of Reasonable Modifications:

Fixed Route:

Have operator pull up a reasonable distance from an obstructed bus stop
Help rider with fare media
Allow passenger with medical condition to eat/drink to avoid adverse health consequences

Paratransit:

Pick up at hard to maneuver spots
Pick up at specific entrances
Assist in extreme weather

Examples of Modifications That Are Not Reasonable:

Leaving a vehicle unattended for a lengthy period
Specific vehicle requests
Request for a specific bus operator
